Four States G.K. Chesterton Society

The Four States G.K. Chesterton Society (serving Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas) consists of twenty members and began our monthly meetings in January of 2013. During the past nine months we have read and discussed The Man Who Was Thursday, the first half of The Everlasting Man, “Lepanto,” St. Francis, and three Fr. Brown stories. We are scheduled to read and discuss Orthodoxy for the next four meetings. We have members who drive as far as 40 miles to attend our monthly meetings.

We are developing plans to combine our efforts with those of the local parish, Catholic radio station, and college Newman Center to raise the local awareness of G.K. Chesterton’s writings and powerful ideas.

A voluntary Extraordinary Form Mass is said prior to the meetings. Before the meeting begins we say the prayer for the canonization of G.K. Chesterton. During and following the meetings we offer food, snacks, and adult beverages. The meetings are largely unstructured and completely informal. Normally someone volunteers at the current meeting to lead the discussion at the next meeting.
